Ongoing Weekly Programs

No registration is required.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by adult.

Mondays– 4:00pmLEGO Maker Mondays Do you like LEGOs? Why not join us to build LEGO creations based on new themes each week and inspired by children’s books!  Designed for children ages 6-12; children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesdays – 10:30-11am – Wee Read – Children ages 0-3, with their caregivers, enjoy a program of songs, poetry, movement and a story.

Wednesdays – 10:30-11am – Preschool Storytime – Children ages 3-5, with their caregivers, enjoy a program of song, movement, poetry, early literacy skills and stories.

Special Events

Pathways of Poetry Contest:

Kenai Community Library  and the Kenai Parks and Recreation Department are proud to present Pathways of Poetry. ADD A VOICE TO OUR PARKS! We  are calling all poets ages 18 and under  to submit an original poem  about Nature for our new Pathways of Poetry. Winning poems will be transferred to a fabricated sign that will be posted along the Pathways of Poetry. Please pick up a registration form and information packet at the Kenai Community Library or by clicking here. Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2017.

 

Chess Club:
Tuesdays  at 4:00pm
Get ready to ROOK the HOUSE! Tuesdays at 4:00pm! Do you like playing Chess, or would you like to learn how? The Kenai Community Library is proud to offer  a casual program for chess players of all ages and levels. Chess boards will be provided.

Cabin Fever Reliever- A Live Story Telling Event:
Thursday, March 30th at 5:00pm
Come escape the last grip of winter and get lost in stories of travel told by local community members including Sammy Crawford, Virginia Walters, Sherra Pritchard, and more!  Light refreshments provided. Give us a call at 283-4378 if you’d like to share a story too!

Light up the Night- After Hours at the Library:
Friday, March 31st from 5:30-7:30pm
Join us for an exciting new after hours program for teens and tweens ages 10-14! Get ready to GLOW, as we paint masks and play glow in the dark games. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Sign up at the front desk today.

Princess Story Time:
Saturday, April 1st at 12:00pm

This special story time is designed for little princesses and princes who would like to hear a fairy tale! Several princesses will be there for this fun, family story time!  Costumes are welcome.

Let’s Draw! Sports:
Wednesday, April 5th at 4:00pm
Have fun drawing football players, track stars, sports equipment, and more in this interactive class. We will also be learning about figures in motion and logos.  For ages 5-10, if you plan to attend please sign up at the front desk! Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

DIY Lip Balm Workshop:
Thursday, April 6th at 5:30pm
FREE! Learn how to make your own all-natual cocoa and peppermint lip blam! Made with cocoa butter, coconut oil, beeswax, and essential oils! Class size limited to 12 people. Register at the front desk.

Glow in the Dark Egg Dye:
Sunday, April 9th at 1:30pm

Learn how to make glow-in-the-dark egg dye just in time for the holiday at this family friendly craft! This non-toxic dye is simple to make and is perfect for fun nighttime egg hunts. Must pre-register to attend. Craft is limited to 12 participants, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

An Evening of Poetry:
Thursday, April 13th at 5:30pm
Come, poets and poetry-lovers, young and old, to celebrate national poetry month with an evening of verse at your local library. Light refreshments provided. Sign up at the front desk or call 283-4378 to read an original or favorite poem.

Afterhours at the Library:
Friday, April 14th  at 5:30pm
Join us for an exciting new after-hours program for teens and tweens ages 10-14! Get ready to GOLF, as we use the whole library to design and play the ultimate game of mini-golf! Snacks and drinks will be provided. Sign up at the front desk today!

Retro Video Game Bash:
Saturday, April 15th  at 1:00pm
We’ll be digging out some retro systems from the 90’s for a race & battle bonanza! There will be a variety of multiplayer games, trivia, art pages, and more! This is a FREE event, open to all ages.

American Girl Club:

Monday, April 17th at 4:00pm
Join us at the Kenai Community Library for our NEW monthly American Girl Club!  We will be making a water bottle and lunch box for your doll.  Bring your doll (doesn’t have to be an American Girl) or use one of ours! The doll house will be out for everyone to play with. Sign up at the front desk or call 283-4378 if you plan on attending. Meets at the same time and place as LEGO Club.
