It’s been a Buggy Summer at the Library where the Summer Reading Program metamorphosed into a large success. Many participants enjoyed stories and creating crafts.  During August only the Wee Read Story Time will continue to meet on Wednesdays at 11:00 am. PreSchool, After School, and the Tween Book Club will resume in September; watch for more details and times. The Russian Story Time will begin meeting at 3:00 pm Monday September 8th and continue on Mondays at 3:00 pm.

Thank you to all the Library Supporters who marched in the Fourth ofJuly Parade. Many of the Summer Reading Participants   buzzed along with the staff while volunteers from the Friends of the   Library marched and biked to show their support.

Moving Forward . . . . . . . . . The City of Kenai – Kenai Community Library has been awarded $1,500,000 by the Rasmuson Foundation towards expansion and renovation of the Kenai Community Library. This amount includes a 1:2 challenge grant for up to $200,000. The first 5000 square feet of the present Kenai Community Library building was constructed in 1976. In 1987, a 5000 square foot addition doubled the Library’s space. In October 2007, Kenai voters approved a bond issue of $2 million towards construction of an expanded library to be issued only when total funds for the project are secured. The total project, estimated to cost $5.3 million, will double the size of the current building.
