Moving Forward . . . . . . . . . The City of Kenai – Kenai Community Library has been awarded $1,500,000 by the Rasmuson Foundation towards expansion and renovation of the Kenai Community Library. This amount includes a 1:2 challenge grant for up to $200,000. The first 5000 square feet of the present Kenai Community Library building was constructed in 1976. In 1987, a 5000 square foot addition doubled the Library’s space. In October 2007, Kenai voters approved a bond issue of $2 million towards construction of an expanded library to be issued only when total funds for the project are secured. The total project, estimated to cost $5.3 million, will double the size of the current building. Twelve New Periodicals have recently arrived on the library shelves. They are: Babybug and Zoobook for children, JPG Magazine, Organize, Quad Off Road, ELDR, Shojo Beat and Shonen Jump. Also, in Spanish, are People magazine en espanol and Reader’s Digest Selecciones Del and in Russian Karavan and Health. Please stop and take a look at them since there is something new to suit everyone’s interest. Beginning September 1, 2008 your Kenai
